Scope of the DataLion terms of service
DataLion provides web-based data visualization software. The contractual relationship is in all cases with DataLion GmbH.
By using the DataLion software platform, the visitor agrees to these terms of service, whether using free DataLion offers or paid offers and whether the use is commercial or private and irrespective of the duration of the use.
DataLion is entitled at any time to amend or supplement the Terms of service.
Registered users will be notified of any major changes to the TOS</ abbr> as well as the consequences of non-compliance when logging in. When complying, the changes will be binding for registered users.
DataLion may change or terminate free offers at any time or restrict their use. Existing users will be notified of the changes. Obligations to pay will only become effective by explicit confirmation of the user.
Registration
To use the DataLion software, users are required to register with an individual user account.

Unauthorized usage
When registering for a user account, the user agrees not to use DataLion terms of service in the following unauthorized ways:
- reverse engineering of the DataLion software as well as other attempts to derive the source code from DataLion
- using the service to create a competitive offer or to test functionality and performance for competitive purposes
- selling, reselling, distributing or renting access to the DataLion software or data, unless explicitly permitted by DataLion
- bypassing security-related functions of DataLion
- using the software in ways that are likely to damage, overload, or otherwise interfere with the system
- automatically retrieving information or data, unless explicitly allowed by DataLion
- using other people’s accounts without explicit permission from DataLion
Termination
Free DataLion accounts can be terminated by the user at any time.
Paid accounts may have different termination periods which are result from the respective contracts between DataLion and the user. These accounts can be terminated 4 weeks before the end of the contract. If the contract is not canceled, the agreement will be extended by the same period after expiration.
Disclaimer
DataLion shall not be held liable for damages resulting from the use of the information and visualizations offered in the software.
Claims for damages due to default and delays due to force majeure or due to unforeseeable obstacles which are not attributable to DataLion are excluded.
The user is not entitled to transfer the services of DataLion to third parties unless this transfer is legally required or explicitly approved by DataLion.
No warranty
DataLion does not guarantee that the graphical representations and analyses are suitable for the intended use in our terms of service. The user will bear the legal risk of usability.
Data protection
DataLion’s purchase and log-in processes are encrypted using an encrypted protocol to protect user data. The encryption protocol used is TLS 1.2 </ abbr> and uses ECDHE-RSA </ abbr> for key exchange. The user data is encrypted with AES 128 GCM </ abbr>.
DataLion uses so-called cookies that are stored on the user’s computer to make the use of the software attractive and user-friendly. The cookies enable the user to analyze the use of the website as well as its recognition during further visits. With the help of this information, DataLion can analyze and further optimize the use patterns and structures of its websites. With the information stored in cookies, DataLion can also personalize the software. The data stored in the DataLion cookies are not linked to the personal data (name, address, etc.) of a user.
