DataLion GmbH, Türkenstraße 93, 80799 Munich, Germany, is working to make its web-based survey and dashboard software DataLion accessible in line with WCAG 2.1 (Level AA) and EN 301 549. This statement describes what is already in place and where limitations remain.
Scope
This statement covers the survey participation interface of DataLion: the view respondents see when completing a survey created with DataLion (app.datalion.net and customer instances). The analysis and dashboard interface for signed-in users is not covered by this statement; more extensive limitations currently exist there (see below).
Conformance status
The survey participation interface is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. The content listed below is not yet accessible.
What is already in place
- Single-choice, multiple-choice, picture, matrix, MaxDiff, conjoint, Kano, Van Westendorp and file-upload questions use native form controls and are operable by keyboard and screen reader.
- Matrix questions are built as real tables with column headers and per-cell screen reader labels.
- Graphical question types such as swarm and gauge scales offer an alternative slider input for keyboard operation.
- Visible focus indicators, focus management on page transitions, and error messages that are actively announced to screen readers.
- Reduced animations when the operating system reports prefers-reduced-motion.
Non-accessible content
The following limitations are known; we are working on resolving them:
- Free-text, dropdown, number, date and slider inputs are not yet consistently linked programmatically to the question title; screen readers sometimes announce no label for them.
- Rating scales (rating, NPS) as well as ranking, A/B test and swipe-card questions offer limited screen reader usability (incomplete group and selection semantics).
- Hotspot and map questions (marking a point on an image or a map) are currently not operable by keyboard.
- Embedded videos do not support captions; survey authors currently cannot provide alternative text for content images.
- Color schemes freely chosen by survey authors are not automatically checked for sufficient contrast.
- The analysis and dashboard interface (charts, tables, editors) is currently not accessible; in particular, charts lack text alternatives and full keyboard operation is not available. Dashboard color schemes and table heatmaps are now algorithmically checked against WCAG contrast thresholds, including a color-vision-deficiency simulation.
Preparation of this statement
This statement was prepared in July 2026 based on an internal self-assessment (a code audit of the survey and dashboard interfaces) and was reviewed in August 2026, adding the question types newly introduced with version 2026.2.193. No external audit has been carried out yet.
