Claude drives DataLion directly

DataLion's Model Context Protocol (MCP) integration lets Claude and other AI agents operate DataLion directly. You do not have to click through menus.

Describe your goal in plain language and the AI does the work inside DataLion, from the first project to the finished report.

Self-service Claude Desktop integration

Admins enable a dedicated integration page. There, users generate a scoped API token and download a ready-to-install MCP bundle for Claude Desktop. Settings for the DataLion URL, write access, SSL and debug logging sit alongside it.

The local bridge starts read-only. Write tools require an explicit setting. A connection test is built in, and sensitive debug data is redacted.

AI-powered data recognition

DataLion automatically detects data structures and metadata on import and suggests the right column mappings when you import a codebook.

This cuts manual configuration, especially for recurring tracking studies.

Ask your data, with citations

The built-in "Ask your data" chat answers questions about your project in natural language. It draws on your codebooks, reports and chart tables and provides cited sources. Its answers point back to your actual analyses.

Under Admin → AI, each workspace stores its own key, model and endpoint. The options include HybridAI, OpenAI, Anthropic, Azure OpenAI and Mistral. EU and on-premise operation are also possible.

Auto-code open-ended responses

DataLion uses AI to classify open-ended responses by sentiment and topic, then writes the results back as new variables. You can crosstab, weight and track them across waves like any other question.
