The AUDIT-C is the short form of the World Health Organization’s Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test and consists of its first three questions: how often you drink, how much on a typical day, and how often six or more drinks occur on one occasion. Each question counts 0 to 4 points, giving a total from 0 to 12. Interpretation is sex-specific: from 4 points for men and 3 points for women the result counts as positive. Being short, freely available and well validated, it is among the most widely used screenings in primary care and workplace health management.
