The General Self-Efficacy Scale by Ralf Schwarzer and Matthias Jerusalem is one of the most widely used instruments in German-language psychology. Its ten statements capture the optimistic belief that you can handle demanding situations through your own effort. The sum ranges from 10 to 40; German-language samples average around 29. The scale is short, well researched and freely available for research and practice – an ideal entry-level self-check in education, coaching and health programmes.
