Distribute a survey: link, QR code and embedding

Once your questionnaire is ready, you publish it and distribute it through the right channel. DataLion offers both open and controlled ways to do this – depending on whether you want to reach a broad audience or invite a panel in a targeted way.

Three options are available for broad distribution:

  • Public link – shareable by email, messenger or social media.
  • QR code – for print, posters, packaging or displays at the point of sale.
  • iframe embed – embed the survey directly into a web page.

For panels and distribution lists, you generate single-use invitation links as a CSV. Each link accepts exactly one response and thus prevents multiple participations. You import the CSV into your mailing or panel tool.

Capturing URL parameters as variables

Append URL parameters to the survey link – such as source, campaign or panel ID. DataLion captures these values directly as variables in the dataset, so that you can later analyse the results by source or panel.

Limiting participation

How many responses are accepted, and until when, is controlled via the response limit and closing date – see Survey logic: setting up skip and display logic.

Tip: Consistently capture the source via a URL parameter. This lets you compare instantly in the dashboard which channel delivers the best response rates. What happens after the responses come in is described under From survey to live dashboard.
