From survey to live dashboard
The decisive difference of DataLion’s survey software: when you publish, you don’t just get a collection point for responses, but a fully analysed project. This saves you the step that otherwise takes days – recoding.
What happens when you publish
As soon as you publish a survey, DataLion automatically creates:
- a project with a response dataset,
- a complete codebook (variable and value labels) and
- a results dashboard as the project’s home page.
Responses become SPSS-compliant variables
The responses are converted into SPSS-compliant variables with value labels at the very moment of publishing – not only after an export:
- one categorical column per single-choice question,
- one 0/1 column per multiple-choice option (no manual splitting),
- one column per matrix/Likert row with the correct scale values.
Variable and value labels are generated automatically in the process. Cross-tabs, weighting and visualization work right away.
Continue working: prepare and analyse
On the generated dataset you use the full range of DataLion features – without any export:
- Weighting: Weighting in DataLion
- Cleaning: Handling missing values
- Visualizing: Which chart types are available?
- Significances: Show significances in tables and charts
New waves and updates
For trackers, further waves flow into the same project via regular data updates – see Data updates. To do this, keep the variable codes stable across the waves.
Tip: Because the codebook is created automatically, it pays off to assign descriptive variable codes already in the questionnaire – they later become the column names in the dataset and the labels in the dashboard.
