Tenant Consultation for Modernisation and Retrofit – questionnaire preview

Energy retrofits rarely fail on the technology and often on the communication. Anyone who first talks to tenants after the formal modernisation notice is already negotiating against resistance that has set. This template starts earlier: it measures how well the information has actually landed, what the concrete worries are – the rent increase is, in practice, only one of them – and which works the residents themselves prioritise. And it captures the support needed during construction that you would otherwise only discover once work is under way.

When should you use this template?

This template is a great fit for:

  • Before the formal modernisation notice, during the planning phase
  • As a companion to the tenants' meeting – it also reaches those who do not attend
  • To set priorities when the budget will not cover every measure
  • As a repeat measurement once the works are finished

From questionnaire to dashboard

Here the dashboard is less a satisfaction measure than a planning basis:

  • Ranking of worries: The multiple-choice question on worries as sorted bars – the basis for answering the right three points first in your tenant communications.
  • Priority of the works: The ranking question as a mean position per measure – when the budget falls short, this shows what residents would most readily give up.
  • Information levels by entrance: How informed people feel, crosstabbed against building or entrance: communication rarely lands evenly, and you see the gap here before it becomes a complaint.

Frequently asked questions

How do we analyse results per building or entrance?
Via a URL parameter on the survey link, for example ?building=lindenstr12. The value is stored as its own variable and is immediately a filter and comparison dimension in the dashboard – so you print one QR code per entrance. For small units you should additionally set a minimum case count below which no figures are shown, so no inferences about individual households are possible.
Many of our tenants do not speak German. Can we run the questionnaire multilingually?
A single questionnaire cannot currently carry several language versions: the survey interface controls appear automatically in six languages, but the question texts themselves only in the language you author them in. For a multilingual portfolio you currently create one survey per language and combine the datasets for analysis. If multilingual delivery is critical to your project, plan for that extra effort.
Can we repeat the same survey after the retrofit?
That is exactly what the template is for. Set up the second wave with the same questionnaire and the variables are identical and the results directly comparable – including significance tests if you want to know whether a change is more than noise. For the free-text answers it pays to give the AI coding the same list of topics in both waves.
