For BI & analytics consultancies
The research-data layer your BI stack cannot build
Survey and study data breaks every BI stack: labels vanish on export, weights are ignored, multiple-response questions fall apart, significance does not exist. DataLion keeps that layer correct and passes the results on to Power BI, Tableau or Qlik. You implement, you train, you keep the services revenue.
BI-neutral · no fieldwork, no panels, no studies · hosted in Germany
DataLion is the research-data layer in front of the BI stack: it keeps SPSS labels, weighting, correct bases, significance and wave logic consistent, then passes the results on to Power BI, Tableau or Qlik. Implementation partners keep their services revenue in full; DataLion sells no fieldwork, no panels and no studies.

The dataset where the project stalls
A client brings a .sav file from market research and asks for a dashboard — "like the one for sales figures". The import takes ten minutes. Then comes the work nobody quoted for: rebuilding value labels from the codebook, reimplementing weighting in DAX, unpivoting multiple-response batteries, falling back to R for significance.
On the first project that is manageable. By the fifth, every client brings a different questionnaire logic and every new wave touches the mappings again. At that point consultancies choose one of two options: maintain it forever — or turn the work down.
Both cost revenue. And demand is rising, because clients increasingly ask for "survey dashboards with AI" that cannot be built economically with standard tooling.
Your stack stays. What it cannot do happens in front of it.
DataLion replaces no BI tool. It sits in front and keeps exactly the concepts that define survey data consistent: variable and value labels, weighting variables, correct bases for multiple response, significance tests that recompute as users filter, and wave logic including documented breaks.
Results go where they belong: as dashboards for business teams, through the API into the existing stack, via MCP to a language model, or as native PowerPoint and Excel exports in the client's corporate design.
For your clients that means their investment in Power BI or Tableau stands. For you it means the project happens instead of failing on the data type.
You implement, you keep the services revenue
Your revenue stays yours. Implementation, data harmonisation, onboarding, training and ongoing support sit entirely with you, with no share taken by us.
Referral share. Licences you source carry an ongoing share. The licence contract runs between DataLion and the end client — protecting both sides should a partnership ever end.
Reciprocity. Implementation requests that reach us and that we cannot deliver ourselves go to partners. That is not a perk, it is the reason for the model: we are a small team and need delivery capacity we do not intend to build in-house.
What does not exist yet. No partner portal, no certification tiers, no catalogue. The programme takes shape in 2027 together with the first partners. Join early and you help shape it — expect a finished programme and it is still too early for you.
When this fits — and when it does not
It fits if you serve clients with market-research, tracking or external supplier data, if you currently decline or hand-build such requests, and if your business rests on implementation and support rather than licence reselling.
It does not fit if your clients only have transactional data — then DataLion solves a problem you do not have. Nor does it fit if you are looking for a white-label platform to sell as your own product: the platform relationship stays with us, the consulting relationship with you.
If you are unsure whether your client base fits, a conversation about one concrete case settles it faster than any description.
What the layer actually does
Questions implementation partners ask
Does DataLion compete with our BI business?
Who earns the implementation revenue?
Why does the licence contract not run through us?
Can we sell DataLion under our own brand?
Is there a finished partner programme?
Does DataLion sell studies or fieldwork?
Want to discuss a concrete case?
Fit is settled fastest against a real client project: which data sources, which BI target system, which requirements around weighting and waves. Thirty minutes is usually enough for a reliable assessment.
